Name: Stelsa Sezyat
Canon: Hiveswap Friendsim
Canon Point: Post Good Ending
Age: Unconfirmed, probably 8-9 sweeps (17-19 years)
History: The MSPA Wiki article.
Personality: On Alternia, everyone needs a coping mechanism. Some react to the chaos by isolating themselves, some inflict violence on others as a means of payback against the world, and some embrace the system, trusting in the rigid hierarchy as the only constant in a world of hate and murder despite how the hemospectrum caused the whole mess in the first place. Stelsa Sezyat falls into the latter camp.
As a tealblood, Stelsa’s designated role in Alternian society is to uphold the caste system of the hemospectrum through legal work; with her chosen specialization being the troll equivalent of an auditor. She embraces her role with a passion, constantly working any angles she can find to get a leg up in her field. In fact, Stelsa’s so driven to the point of her demeanor being almost offputting; she moves and speaks with a purposeful, breathless energy that puts many off balance.
Being one of the fortunate few that fits comfortably into her designated role and having a relatively high position on the hemospectrum, Stelsa enjoys the benefits of Alternia’s the caste system, truly believing that it’s just and the only way to maintain order. It’s likely that on some level she knows that the hemospectrum is unjust, but is terrified of what she sees as the only alternative, chaos and a higher-than-acceptable amount of bloodshed. Those are anathema to her personal philosophy, as Stelsa applies the values of the hemospectrum to her daily life: strict order, rigid discipline, unthinking obedience, and nothing less than perfection in every waking moment. Everything in Stelsa’s life is planned weeks to perigees in advance, and her schedule is packed end-to-end with her duties as an auditerrorizer. What little free time Stelsa has is almost exclusively dedicated on beautician appointments and exercise regimens, all for the noble cause of improving herself to be the best possible civil servant the Alternian empire can ask for.
But even when the tiniest aspect of her carefully ordered life is disrupted, Stelsa quickly becomes irritated, pushing to immediately rectify the perceived issue with all of her considerable bullheadedness and terrifying energy. She’s introduced arguing with her beautician’s office that being recently eviscerated is no excuse for cancelling an appointment; and in her bad ending, Stelsa grows enraged once the MC crashes their scuttlebuggy, verbally flogging them for making her late and thundering out of the car to walk to her meeting despite her injuries, the acidic rain, and her general state of disarray. This also leads to her being somewhat self-centered, concerned only with her own improvement and maintaining or returning to the status quo.
Stelsa isn’t just a determined, enthusiastic auditerrorizer, though. She is incredibly affectionate and loving, showing great care for her matesprit Tyzias despite how the way she lives is antithetical to Stelsa’s own lifestyle. In fact, she loves Tyzias so much that when their relationship threatens to erupt into conflict due to Tyzias’ rebel beliefs Stelsa is robbed of all of her extraordinary forward momentum and left paralyzed, unsure of what to do to resolve the potential conflict. She even denies that Tyzias is deeply entrenched in rebel ideology despite blatant hints suggesting otherwise, believing that it’s just a phase. This shows that when Stelsa is unable to change something to fit into her orderly world, she just ignores it and hopes it goes away. But even with this rift growing between them, Stelsa has incredible amounts of affection for Tyzias, making time to just relax with her matesprit out of her incredibly busy schedule and even letting Tyzias’ trademark sloppiness infringe on Stelsa’s painstakingly organized hive. She also shows this affection to anyone she gets close to; she gives the MC a hug at the end of her good ending for helping her with her relationship problems.
Abilities:
Troll Physiology: Trolls are a naturally hardy race due to the hostile conditions on their homeworld, and being relatively high on the hemospectrum Stelsa is even more durable and strong than most trolls, which is saying something. She also has an immunity to acid and high tolerance against blood loss as a general troll trait; while being a midblood gives her resistance to psychic manipulation.
Athletic: Stelsa is shown to be fervently athletic, as shown by all the workout equipment in her hive. This further enhances her already impressive physical abilities as a troll.
Verballistamina: Stelsa is able to talk without pausing for breath for minutes, perhaps hours at a time, making her excellent at belaboring clients into submission, closing deals, and getting people to work with her.
Strengths: Driven, organized, opportunistic, friendly, affectionate
Weaknesses: Self-centered, complacent, obstinate, blunt, clings to status quo
God/Shinki: God
Why?: Stelsa has always thrived and put faith in Alternia’s oppressive hemospectrum. Having her suddenly be displaced from the hierarchical structure that she has allowed to rule her entire life, put in a role that’s ill suited for her, and finding her own purpose and goals beyond it will make a far more interesting arc than her losing all of her memories of home.
Top 3 Choices: Laverna, Libertas, Futsunushi
God Type: Stelsa would tackle her godly duties with her usual fervor, trying to answer all of her follower’s prayers to the best of her ability--although the best of her ability will still be a rather meager effort at first, as Stelsa’s assigned portfolio is often anathema to her personal philosophy. At first, she’ll fumble through figuring out how to answer some prayers, occasionally flubbing it up despite earnest efforts and wondering whether she’s really doing the right thing. Stelsa will definitely need help in figuring out how to properly fulfill her role, although she’ll only ask for it when she’s truly at her wit’s end.
Power: Geas. Stelsa can lace her words with magical power to enforce a magical geas onto others. She can either make a Law or and Oath with this ability; if the target of the geas breaks a Law, they will experience terrible pain until Stelsa deigns to remove the geas. If the target of a geas follows an Oath, they will be energized, strengthened, and motivated. A geas only lasts for three days, and Stelsa can only have one geas active at a time; issuing another will immediately break the previous geas.
Writing Sample
Sample: Stelsa Sezyat always makes it a policy to be precisely ten minutes early to everything. If somebody arrives right on time or later, it looks like that they’re dragging their feet and don’t want to come. If somebody arrives earlier than ten minutes, they appear overeager and desperate to please.
And since all policies start with a habit, and all habits start with action, Stelsa has trained herself to always wake up ten minutes before her four in the afternoon alarm. The bell is practically vestigial at this point, but it’s loud enough to wake Zizi up for their twilight run whenever she stays over, so Stelsa keeps it around.
It turns out that an excellent way to increase the efficiency of a morning routine is to put a recuperacoon inside the hive’s ablutions block. That way, the shower is only a few steps away, and Stelsa can start cleaning off sopor slime and getting her hair ready for the day before even a minute’s passed since her awakening.
Stelsa has kept this routine ever since she was old enough to understand what “beauty routine” and “efficiency” mean. In fact, it’s become such a deeply ingrained instinct that it takes half a minute to realize that she isn’t covered in sopor slime and that she’s nowhere near her ablutions block.
She simply stands stock still for a moment, as one hand reaches to turn on a showerhead that isn’t there. Her mind runs through several possibilities (kidnapping, surprise performance review, random check for rebel sentiments) before ultimately landing on a blank. Something isn’t right here.
So Stelsa defaults to her automatic response for when people or situations become unfavorable: belabor the problem into submission. All wide, toothy smiles, she turns to the poor, unprepared shinki and opens the floodgates.
“Oh my what an aesthetic you have here really I quite adore the whole minimalist feel of this place do you have the number of your interior designer I could really use someone to work on my office’s lobby and while you’re at it could you tell me what this place is and why you’ve brought me here I’m sure you’re a reasonable person and we can come to an amicable arrangement without getting drones involved after all what’s a little kidnapping between an auditerrorizer-in-training and a potential client?”
Other
Anything Else?: I specifically chose gods that are ill-suited to Stelsa’s core personality so she’ll have a more interesting character arc adjusting to her new role. If that’s a problem for any reason, I’m more than willing to change it!
